2. Aquarius
Why is Valentines Day in Aquarius?
Sexual attraction may be what sparks an intimate relationship, but open and honest communication is what enables loving feelings to endure. For this reason, air signs are considered the best at long-term relationships, especially Libra with its traditional association to Venus.
However, in the study of those who were married for 15 years or more (469 people), Aquarius was the dominant sign. How could this be the case, if Aquarians are such independent, rebellious people? Well, they are not! That description better fits Libras (Scales of Justice), which was the dominant sign in the study of Activists (404 people).
According to Greek mythology, Aquarius was a beautiful prince who Zeus kidnapped to be his lover and kept at his side as a servant (water bearer). It appears that Aquarius is actually the most Venusian of the air signs.
This reversal of meanings can be explained through understanding the three modes: Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable, which represent Power, Love, and Wisdom. The three air signs each express a different mode of being and have vastly different purposes for connecting with people: 1) Libra is a cardinal sign, which seeks active manifestation of power through communication; 2) Aquarius is a fixed sign, which seeks love and relationships through communication; and 3) Gemini is a mutable sign, which seeks to share its intelligence and knowledge.
(Interestingly, Virgo, the dominant sign for sexual people, was also dominant for people who never married. It seems that highly sexual people do not have a taste for the routine of long relationships.
Virgo’s symbol, the virgin, is actually more suitable than you may think. A virgin originally meant an unmarried person and did not refer to sexual chastity, but sexual independence.)
