25. Chakras
The Chakras
We each have three bodies. The physical body, made of matter and energy, forms our appearance and way of interacting with the world. The emotional (astral) body, made of feeling and desire, forms our way of experiencing reality, our tastes and preferences. The mental body, made of thought and memory, forms our way of interpreting reality, our personal identity and will.
When we have sufficiently developed our three personal bodies, the divine self within unites its threefold consciousness with us. When we feel love for all beings, we are connecting with its divine heart. When we receive intuitive knowledge, purpose and guidance, we are connecting with its divine mind. When we become like the divine, we unite with its spiritual body. Through this spiritual union, we then awaken to our true nature and become self-aware as the divine.
These seven types of consciousness are transmitted to us through the 7 chakras (centers) of our soul. Each chakra corresponds with an area of our body and can be seen (psychically) as a color. As we evolve, our soul - a growing tree of life, raises its kundalini (spiritual light) to open each chakra and make them an active part of our being.
1. The grounding root chakra is red and transmits power manifested on the physical plane of being. At this beginning stage, we establish a strong foundation as our consciousness is focused on developing our physical abilities through the senses, and learning the practical skills needed for survival. (Mars)
2. The libidinal sacral chakra is orange and transmits emotion experienced on the astral plane of being. At this stage, we grow desire and the capacity for pleasure by developing our feeling nature, which serves to enrich personal experiences and relationships. (Venus)
3. The causal solar plexus chakra is yellow and transmits active intelligence from the mental plane of being. At this stage, we seek knowledge and intellectual development in order to understand ourselves and influence our environment. This is the seat of the ego. (Sun)
Together, the first three chakras form the process of cognition: (1) sensing -> (2) feeling -> (3) thinking; as well as the process of creation: (3) thought -> (2) desire -> (1) action.
Once enough self-centered development within the lower self (ego) is accomplished, the individual’s consciousness moves upward to the higher chakras and planes of being where it learns to let the higher self direct it in service to the whole.
4. The devotional heart chakra is green and transmits loving kindness and the desire to be of service to life. When this chakra opens, we become clairsentient and develop the empathic ability to feel people’s emotions, which enables us to participate in the healing process within and around us. (Moon)
5. The communicative throat chakra is blue and transmits spiritual and intuitive knowledge. When this chakra opens, we become clairaudient and develop the ability hear the all-knowing inner voice, which gives insight, directs actions, and provides wisdom for others. (Mercury)
6. The visionary pineal chakra is purple and transmits psychic vision to the Third Eye. When this chakra opens, we become clairvoyant and develop the ability to see the inner nature of beings. This spiritual awareness enables us to experience non-physical realities and interact with higher beings. (Jupiter)
When we become selfless and learn how to impersonally use our abilities in service to life, we join the community of light and our consciousness opens to the highest chakra.
7. The brilliant crown chakra is white and transmits God consciousness, the union of all polarities. Nothing can oppose that which has no opposite. When this chakra opens, we become enlightened masters, vessels of truth with radiant halos. We release our identity as individual beings (ego) and become reborn in our true identity as the One Universal Self. (Uranus)
In this state, we become completely tuned in to our core inner self that Is and Knows, and identify as life itself, existing in a perfectly flowing state balanced between the inner reception of inspiration and the outer expression of divine will.
*Just as the physical body has organs and veins, the soul has chakras and channels. There are two main channels that interweave up and down like a DNA strand around the chakras, and a center channel that moves directly up and down (medical serpent staff). The Kabbala’s Tree of Life portrays the chakra system where chakras three, five, and six are each split into left and right chakras, creating 10 chakras. Theologans describe the 7 chakras as layers or sheaths that form our consciousness, with which we exist on the seven planes of being.
**Saturn represents the ground of being, the laws of physical reality, which precede the individual chakras. Neptune represents the ocean of being, the dreaming mind that causes manifest existence, which is experienced by individuals beyond the 7th chakra.
