33. Planetary Life Paths
Planetary Life Paths
There are two primary life paths: the outward, career path and the inward, domestic path.
Outer Path
For the person focused on achieving goals in the outer world, the conscious mind is represented by the extroverted planets: Sun, Mars, Jupiter, and Uranus. The Sun represents his self-identity (ego), Mars his assertive expression (persona), Jupiter his worldly ambitions, and Uranus his unique purpose.
The introverted planets, the Moon, Venus, Saturn, and Neptune represent his private life and unconscious mind. The externally focused person represses his emotions and nurturing qualities (Moon), while his ideal partner is submissive and feminine (Venus). His home is experienced as a place of responsibility (Saturn), while his spirituality (Neptune) is viewed with skepticism and ignored.
Inner Path
For the inward and relationally focused person, the entire scheme is reversed. Her individuality (Sun) is suppressed in order to support others. Her identity revolves around the Moon, being nurturing and kind. She embraces her emotions and develops sensitivity. Her persona is attractive and loving (Venus), while her partner is masculine and dominant (Mars).
Her freedom of expression (Jupiter) is asserted with the family at home, while she experiences restriction (Saturn) in the outer world. Her higher goal is to achieve oneness with life (Neptune) and disavows her individual uniqueness (Uranus). The inner spiritual world is where she truly shines. Her strength is within, while his strength is without.
Sex Roles
These have been the traditional roles of men and women. As our sex roles loosen, more men follow the inward path and more women follow the outward path. Partnership roles then reverse within relationships. The Sun and Mars of one partner will match the Moon and Venus of the other. As we evolve, we become less attached to sex roles and more free to choose our own path, blending qualities from both paths into the same person.
(In the course of life, a person may reverse poles during a process of transformation. An outwardly focused person can become inward and an inward person can become outward. In this case, a person’s whole personality may appear to change, causing their career and relationships to undergo major upheaval.)
